It’s been about a month since my last post, and a great deal has happened; Collin & Jessi finally got married.
Saturday July, 7th
Wedding weekend began on Saturday, with an early morning trip to Clayton to pick up the bride to be for pampering. It started with breakfast sandwiches and iced coffee from Starbucks, and proceeded to Raleigh to Cameron Spa nails for manicures and pedicures. As the maid of honor, and sister of the groom, I felt that it was my responsibility to spoil Jess as much as possible the day before and day of her wedding. I’m pretty sure I succeeded!!
After a quick lunch, and stocking up on alcohol for the bachelorette party, we traveled back to Clayton for the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner.
Once everyone arrived, and the pastor had a chance to go over the rehearsal with the bride & groom, the bridal party quickly lined up to practice.
After the first run through, there was some slight confusion about the line-up, but after a second run everyone involved seemed much more comfortable with the process; despite the 100 degree heat. It may not have been overly pleasant, but the fact that everyone was hot and hungry probably sped the process up a bit.
Sunday July, 8th
With both the groomsmen out for stag night and the bridesmaids out for the bachelorette, the start to Sunday was a little delayed. Everyone was a bit sluggish, due to the extremely warm temperature and the hangovers. But we gathered our nerves, drank some water and powered through. The girls had a busy day of getting their hair done, while the guys spent the day setting everything up. It was a long, hot, day but the ceremony and reception sites both looked great!
The ceremony began around 6/6:30, and was short and sweet. I somehow managed not to cry, but Jess had an awfully hard time holding it together while reading her vows. The most beautiful part of the ceremony to me however, was seeing Collin’s face light up as Jess walked down the aisle towards him. This was the happiest I have seen my brother in a very long time, and this moment melted my heart.
The reception was catered by a couple that is close friends to my brother and Jess, and the food was delicious. The whole wedding was extremely laid back and relaxed with a very comfortable feel. The music, the food, the cake, and even the photography was all done by friends/family of the bride and groom.
At the end of the day, Collin & Jess retired to a hotel suite with a jacuzzi in it, as a happily married couple.
More pictures to come soon.
