Amber found me by looking for a Raleigh Day-Of Wedding Coordinator via Thumbtack, a website that helps people locate local business professionals for hire. We met early this year at one of my absolute favorite family owned coffee shops located in North Raleigh, Sola Coffee Cafe. Sola has lots of great coffee and drink options to choose from, and even has a tasty little menu of food offerings.
Amber and Kevin’s wedding took place on May, 15th at the Historic Mordecai Park in downtown Raleigh. This venue is an absolutely beautiful plantation home sitting on 3.9 acres of land just oozing with Raleigh history dating back to 1785. The Mordecai House is the oldest residence in Raleigh on it’s original foundation. The house itself is surrounded by the original birthplace of President Andrew Johnson, the Ellen Mordecai garden, the Badger-Iredell Law Office, Allen Kitchen and St. Mark’s Chapel. The Chapel makes a great ceremony venue for very small intimate sized weddings.
The two met on a dating website, after both realizing that they were fed up with their options. Kevin & Amber had multiple humorous differences that they discovered immediately; Amber prefers Coke while Kevin is a Pepsi guy. The two have adapted to one another’s differences and learned that opposites really can attract. I know this firsthand because Amber seemed at her most cool, calm, and collected any time Kevin stood by her side. Seeing the two together made it even more obvious to me that they were in love and meant to be. Read more about their love story at their wedding website here.
The wedding was held on an incredibly gorgeous day, with temps in the low 70s, a pleasant breeze, and not a cloud in the beautiful blue sky. Amber and Kevin made their own centerpieces, their own unique signage, and even some Coke themed decor items. Kevin, who works at a graphics imaging & sign company, provided my team and I with a bunch of really neat signs to place around the park in order to help guests find their way around. In addition to their super cute decor items, Amber & Kevin hired a caricature artist to come by for a few hours during the cocktail hour and a little bit of the reception. They also provided lawn games, including a HUGE version of Jenga like none I had ever seen before. All in all, the two planned a really fun day for all of their wedding guests.
Finally, the last thing I will say before I show you the beautiful images of Amber & Kevin’s big day captured by MGMiller Photo, I NEED to say something about the catering company hired for this wedding. Red Hot & Blue provided Amber & Kevin’s guests a delicious dinner buffet of Carolina barbecue, and all the expected fixings. Not only did they provide tasty food and excellent food service, they also helped my team and I out tremendously. Their team lent me a HUGE hand by helping me to relocate chairs from the ceremony site over to the reception site during the cocktail hour. This may not sound like much, but since the rest of my team was putting the finishing touches on decorating the reception site, and the clock was already ticking, I did not have a ton of time to move about 100 chairs from one side of the park to the other by myself. I highly recommend hiring Red Hot & Blue to cater your next event. They handled a large scale, off-site event like absolute pros and I commend them for supplying both good food and great staff all with positive can-do attitudes!
And now, pictures!
I had an incredible time being a part of Amber & Kevin’s Raleigh Wedding. I loved being the Day-Of Wedding Coordinator for this adorable couple and I wish them all the happiness in the world!!
